Learning Goal: We are learning how to play a game with dice and plates so that we understand grouping and how to multiply. SUCCESS CRITERIA: *I can think of multiplication as “groups of” *I can see the process of multiplication *I can help others understand Materials: *2 dice *6 plates (can be paper plates or construction paper circles) *36 cubes Instructions: 1. Roll 2 dice, one at a time 2. The first number you get, take out that many plates 3. The second number you get, take out that many cubes and place on each plate Example: Roll a 4 = 4 plates Roll a 5 = 5 cubes on each plate Number Sentence: 4 groups of 5 4 x 5 = 20 HAVE FUN! |
